INTRODUCTION
Spotify, a well-known digital music streaming service, has emerged as a popular platform for users to listen to podcasts in recent years. In this case study, we suggest introducing a new functionality that allows users to effortlessly view, share or save snippets of podcast transcripts.

Discovery

INDUSTRY AUDIT
To begin the design process, we performed an evaluation of popular competitors in the market through an industry audit. This analysis allowed us to identify their strengths and weaknesses, enabling us to pinpoint the areas within Spotify where our proposed feature could make a substantial impact.

JOBS-TO-BE-DONE FRAMEWORK
Before we started our user research interviews, we developed jobs-to-be-done diagrams to clarify and anticipate potential user tasks, which served as a framework for our subsequent interviews and brainstorming stages.

Research

USER INTERVIEWS
Together with my partner, we conducted interviews with 10 users to gain deeper insights into the user experience with the Spotify app and identify areas of frustration or difficulty.

KEY INSIGHTS
After synthesizing our user feedback, the key findings were as follows:

Design

Low-Fidelity WIREFRAMES
Taking our insights into account, I generated three distinct low-fidelity wireframes. These included a customizable homepage, a feature highlighting fresh underground artists and their works in progress or remixes, and a tool allowing users to save podcast transcripts.

MID-FIDELITY PROTOTYPES
We advanced forward with developing mid-fidelity prototypes to test for usability. This allowed us to assess the functionality and user experience of our designs before proceeding to higher-fidelity iterations.

KEY INSIGHTS
After conducting a second round of user interviews with our mid-fidelity prototypes, we received preferential feedback for the podcast transcript feature, leading us to choose it for further development into high-fidelity prototyping.

After synthesizing our user feedback, the key findings were as follows:
